Monumental Kinoptic Metal Wall Sculpture by Rafe Affleck, Pasadena, 1968
Richard R. “Rafe” Affleck (American,1928-2015) created incredible sculptural metal works for private and public installations. Our wall sculpture was one of four installed in the Administration Building of Ambassador College in Pasadena. Referred to by the artist as “kinoptic” works, they are equally impressive for their scale and execution. The highly polished aluminum overlapping panels are finished on the reverse sides in a vivid red, which is reflected on the surface of the next panel. We also have two works with a vivid blue background. All panels are formed into semi – circular curves, which create the depth and reflection. The panels are mounted to black mounting boards, and are in six sections for ease of installation. The work is in fantastic original condition.
