Variety Magazine Stand – Ambassador Hotel – Rudy Vallee Estate

Variety Magazine, founded in 1905, was the main conduit for all information on the film trade in Hollywood. This iron stand was provided by Variety to the Ambassador Hotel (1921-2005) in Los Angeles. The Ambassador was the center of Hollywood nightlife, housing the famed Cocoanut Grove, and across the street from the iconic Brown Derby restaurant. The stand later was given to Rudy Vallee (1901-1986), who was considered one of tinseltown's first teen idols. The stand was acquired from Vallee's estate, and has been in a private collection until now. The freestanding rack is made of iron, and still retains the original Variety logo on the top shelf.
