Monumental Bonal Poster by A.M. Cassandre
Adolphe Jean Marie Mouron (1901-1968), commonly known as AM Cassandre, was undoubtedly the master of modern graphic design during Art Deco's glory days. His images of speeding trains, ocean liners, and festive cocktails defined our vision of the period between the wars. His influence is still being felt today in current graphic designs. This image for Bonal demonstrates his clever and colorful style in a grand scale. Does Bonal open the key to the universe, as the stars may suggest? The poster is a four section graphic, professionally restored and mounted on heavy acid free canvas. The image shows some yellowing of age, and some water staining. There are weighted and lacquered wooden frames on the top and bottom. This clever treatment allows one to roll the large poster for transporting, and eliminates the need for costly framing.
