Illuminated Side Table by Nino Zoncada for SS Stella Solaris Cruise Ship
The French liner SS Stella Solaris was launched in 1953 as a transatlantic ocean liner. In 1971, it was remodeled and re-commissioned as a Mediterranean cruise liner. Giovanni "Nino" Zoncada designed the interiors. Zoncada was one of the premier designers of Mid-Century ocean liners, often working with Gio Ponti. This lovely table features a striated polished marble top, lit from the underside. The top is trimmed in polished aluminum, as is the base. The body is painted metal, and the base is a lacquered hardwood. The table has been restored and rewired, and displays beautifully.
